July 13, 2013

As we enter the summer season we are all keeping our fingers crossed that we get more sunny and warm weather than the last 2 years.  After a mixed June (particularly at the start of then month ) with much cooler temperatures than normal the signs are now encouraging – more settled weather is beginning to appear!   In fact the last couple of weeks haven’t been at all bad – after prolonged low temperatures during April, May and early June, Spring and early summer seem to have arrived at the same time, as evidenced by the explosion of colour in the gardens ( see Gallery photos ) and rapidly developing Hay fields.

The Cottage has recently been completely redecorated upstairs, more lime-wash applied downstairs and the oak floors reinvigorated with a new coat of hardwax oil.    In fact everything in the Cottage has been freshened up and where necessary equipment has been replaced.

Upcoming Events

Our Medieval Cruck Hall-House is again part of the Ruthin Open Doors heritage week-end thus year – but only on the 28th September.  The whole event is well worth a visit – important historical buildings and sites in Ruthin, Denbigh and Llangollen open their doors for free to visitors.  Many of these venues ( including ours ) are not normally accessible to the public.  Venues include Castles, the Denbigh Town Walls ( well worth a visit – they are normally closed to the public ), timber-framed houses, churches ( St. Meugans and St. Marcellas are particular favourites of ours ) and much more.  The event covers 3 week-ends ( one for each Town ).  Ruthin itself is well worth a wander at any time, to take in and admire the buildings and character of this Medieval town.

Please note that this website may not as yet give details of 2013 events – but venues will be much the same as for 2012.  Look for Denbighshire listings and follow links to relevant pages.
